Job Title: Senior Systems Specialist Band: 6 Base: You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital). Reimbursement would not apply for a permanent or temporary change of base. Reports to: Pathology IT Manager Accountable to: General ManagerMain duties of the jobThe 'Senior Systems Specialist' will work primarily with pathology lab staff to implement and configure new systems and LIMS, to resolve problems and to ensure that staff and patients gain the maximum possible benefit from Pathology systems. This is a technical lab-based role that will take the lead in implementing projects as well as providing third-level support/development, management and configuration of laboratory systems, monitoring and maintenance of system interfaces and interaction with third party system suppliers.About usOur new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (##########0). About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust: descriptionJob responsibilitiesThis role will provide a consistent and high quality IT support service across the whole of UHL by:
Managing and Configuring Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) including upgrades of. Maintaining and upgrading a range of laboratory systems that are critical to the running of Pathology. Helping to install, upgrade and monitor analysers that are interfaced to LIMS. Helping to install, upgrade and monitor printers that are interfaced to LIMS. Monitoring and managing interfaces between Pathology and other systems (PAS, ICE, Nervecentre). Responding to, and resolving incidents in a timely manner, to ensure minimal downtime for pathology lab processes. Root cause analysis and proposal of solutions to improve underlying issues. Advise senior laboratory users on the capabilities of the LIMS and to assist them in planning service improvements. Ensure quality processes are defined and followed to ensure that UKAS and other regulatory standards are met.

Advanced level knowledge of NHS healthcare IT systems IT related qualifications

Minimum 3 years' experience working in a laboratory setting Experience of change management

Staff management or supervisory experience Has experience in resolving IT faults

Excellent professional, confident communication skills, both written and verbal Has the ability to understand and relay complex information to people at all levels Demonstrates the ability to build up and maintain relationships with internal and external suppliers.

Able to demonstrate sound judgment in recommending cost effective solutions to ensure best value for the business Able to use judgement in complex situations requiring analysis. Awareness of management processes within the NHS
