About the RoleBase Location: Perth or GlasgowSalary: up to £70,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableThis is a key role within the Regional System Planning and Investment Team. The team perform a critical function within the SSEN Transmission business, with specialist technical capability and experience to undertake system studies and designs required to plan the current and future Transmission network, and ensure that safety, security of supply and performance of the network is maintained in accordance with required planning standards, Grid Code, SQSS and other licence obligations. The continued growth in renewable generation in the north of Scotland is presenting us with exciting challenges in how we integrate these onto our network while ensuring that the technical performance of the system is maintained. The role of the Senior System Planning and Investment Engineer is an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to our strategic vision to facilitate the GB transition to a low carbon future. You will have technical/functional lead responsibility but this role will not have any line management responsibilities.The duties and responsibilities of the Senior System Planning and Investment Engineers are:- Carry out, review and direct, where appropriate, Feasibility studies, power system studies, technical assessments, planning and development of the Transmission network.- Lead, coordinate and govern specific technical or functional area across teams in Transmission System and Investment Planning, e.g. System Analysis and Design.- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and licence requirements in the most economic, efficient and co-ordinated manner.- Present study findings to a range of audiences both internal and external to SSEN Transmission.- Review and lead production of Business and Investment Cases.What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline and ideally be a Chartered Engineer in a relevant institution.- Demonstrable experience in detailed power systems analysis and a working knowledge of regulatory investment techniques, ideally within the transmission industry.- Working knowledge of the industry technical codes and standards and a good understanding of the statutory and licence obligations under which SSEN Transmission operates.- Ability to write clear and well-structured investment reports and possess excellent communication skills for presenting information to influence and guide investment decisions.- Good knowledge of the electricity industry, including interfaces with the regulator, the Electricity System Operator, other Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Operators.About our BusinessAt SSEN Transmission, we take immense pride in owning and operating the high-voltage electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland.
