April Quest is recruiting for a specialist SME engineering and manufacturing business in North Devon. Their nimble, customer-focused approach means their products (used by their customers in Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Nuclear and advanced manufacturing) are world-leading and they would like to keep it this way. The company is currently experiencing rapid growth, investing heavily in product development, and aiming to continue to revolutionize the sectors the operate in.
Info about what the role entails
Externally facing product development role. A broad 'full fat' technical role reporting to the Systems Engineering Team Leader Technical Lead in this customer-facing role you will be the product owner for all technical content. A full lifecycle product development role but your focus will be at the early stages of the V model around customer requirements elicitation and V+V activities. You will be responsible for cascading technical requirements to engineers to ensure customer needs are ‘baked in’ to product roadmaps
You will have no direct reports and will not need to be an SME but as the Technical Lead you will direct the work of up to 10 members of the Engineering Team (Software / Hardware / Electronics etc)..
Essential Requirements of the Senior Systems Engineer
Full lifecycle systems engineering/product development experience - you will take ownership of the product roadmap ensuring the escalation of everything on the roadmap etc.
Engineering background - Electronics, Software, Hardware, Systems etc
3+ years’ experience in a product development role
Able to work closely with customers to elicit/capture customer requirements, know what questions to ask
Previous experience working closely with customers or suppliers
Desirable Requirements of the Senior Systems Engineer
MBSE in an enterprise architect environment
High reliability/safety critical experience (DO-178, 61508 etc)
Full lifecycle experience with a focus on requirements capture, architecture and V+V activities
