Position: Senior Software Design Engineer
Location: Birmingham (Currently role is office-based, with the potential to become hybrid after 3 months
Salary: GBP 50 000 - 60 000 P/A
Key Responsibilities:
Design software system architecture for DC charging systems capable of simultaneously charging multiple vehicles with up to 1MW of power.
Validate software design and execute test plans to ensure compliance with UK and international standards.
Manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance and support throughout the development process.
Collaborate closely with our Senior Power Systems Design Engineer to integrate software and hardware components seamlessly.
Requirements:
10+ years of proven track record in power system product development, preferably within an SME environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in low-carbon energy technology and services.
Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Membership in a Professional Engineering society is a plus.
Technical Key Skills Required:
Hardware / Software Experience / Embedded Software Development C++ Writing Certificate.( Be able to understand the coding.)
Software Development Skills:
Proficiency in C++ programming language.
Experience in designing software system architectures.
Familiarity with hardware design and embedded software code development.
Power Systems Engineering:
Understanding of power systems components and their interactions.
Experience in control systems engineering.
Project Management and Communication:
Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead a team of software engineers effectively.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly with Senior Power Systems Design Engineers.
Regulatory Compliance:
Knowledge of UK and International standards relevant to DC charging systems.
Experience in ensuring product compliance with regulatory standards.
Team Management:
Prior experience in managing a team of software engineers, guiding their work and ensuring timely delivery.
Educational Background and Professional Affiliation:
Bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering or a related field.
Membership of a Professional Engineering society is desirable.
Embedded Software Development C++ Writing Certificate.( Be able to understand the coding.)
Industry Experience:
Previous experience working in or with a power system product supplier is preferred
Experience working in a Small to Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) environment is desirable.
Interest in Low Carbon Energy Technology:
Genuine interest in and understanding of low carbon energy technology and services.
Ability to contribute to the development of technology-product-market roadmaps in this area.
Numeracy:
Must be comfortable working with technical data and performing calculations as needed.
