Job DescriptionPosition: Senior Switched Mode Power Supply Design EngineerSalary: £50k to £60k+ DOE+ benefitsLocation: BristolWe're on the lookout for a talented and experienced Senior Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Design Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. As a crucial member of our engineering department, you will play a key role in the design and development of cutting-edge power supply solutions.Responsibilities:DC/DC and AC/DC Design: design and develop DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and performance.Resonant Topologies Expertise: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of resonant topologies, particularly LLC (Inductor-Inductor-Capacitor) and PFC (Power Factor Correction), to optimize power supply designs.End-to-End Design Cycle: Manage the entire design cycle, from conceptualization and simulation to prototyping and testing, ensuring the delivery of high-quality power solutions.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including PCB designers, firmware engineers, and validation teams, to achieve seamless integration of power supply designs into larger systems.Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues during the design and testing phases, applying a systematic approach to troubleshoot and optimize power supply performance.Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, bill of materials (BOM), and design verification plans, to facilitate smooth handover to production teams.Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry standards and ensure that power supply designs comply with relevant regulations and certifications.Qualifications:Education: bachelor's/master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.Experience: Proven track record of at least 6 years in switched mode power supply design, with a focus on DC/DC and AC/DC converters using resonant topologies.Technical Skills:· Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, PLECS) for power supply design.· Strong understanding of control theory and feedback systems.· Knowledge of thermal management in power supply design.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.If you're passionate about pushing the boundaries of power supply design and have a proven track record in the field, we'd love to hear from you.
