If so, we are currently looking for a Senior Buyer to join our Procurement and Supply Chain team
Outline of the role
As a senior buyer you will play a critical role in acquiring the necessary subcontract packages and material equipment to support the efficiency and cost effectiveness of our projects.
You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align procurement, quality, legal and safety requirements.
Main responsibilities
·
Support the Head of Supply Chain in developing a buying department strategy for sustainable growth
·
Identify potential contractual risk
·
Prior to appointing contractors set in place strategies for the ongoing risk management
·
Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with suppliers.
·
Identify cost-effective sourcing options that protect project programme, quality and safety
·
Assess supplier reliability and competence against KPI’s
·
Management of personnel, resources and relationships to ensure effective delivery
·
Commercial awareness of the impact to the company’s profitability and reputation with all decisions made
Required Skills and Experience
·
Previous subcontract and buying experience within a similar construction environment
·
Contractual awareness in all forms of Main & S/C documentation
·
Prior experience of managing construction related budgets and key performance indicators
·
Strong technical knowledge in the building sector including knowledge of specialist suppliers
·
Ability to negotiate contracts and ongoing evaluation of suppliers
·
Excellent relationship building and communication skills
·
BSc or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying (candidates will be considered if demonstrable experience is shown)
