Senior Structural Engineer

The Role
We are looking to recruit a full-time Senior Structural Engineer to join a team in Glaston. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the local and national Engineering teams on a wide range of projects, including structural surveys and structural designs for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The Senior Structural Engineer is also expected to provide advice to the insurance sector and assist with their regional frameworks.
The Senior Structural Engineer will support the Engineering Line Manager, handle projects within their level of authority, and provide training and guidance to supporting team members. This position offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to demonstrate ambition, drive, and passion for customer service. Essential skills include delivering the client's values, maintaining a professional manner, and possessing good interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
Undertaking technical and feasibility studies, including organizing site investigations
Using a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
Liaising with clients, contractors, architects, and other professionals
Preparing contract documents and managing tenders
Resolving design and development problems
Managing budget and project resources
Ensuring all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
Undertaking large value projects independently with comprehensive knowledge of professional consultancy services
Assessing sustainability and environmental impact of projects
Contributing to the company’s marketing objectives, targets, and initiatives
Assisting director with training and development of the engineering team
Inspecting/supervising construction work on site, preparing interim and final accounts, claims, and ensuring practical completion
Providing supervision and support to ICE/IStructE candidates for promoting knowledge and understanding
Complying with the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures, and Health & Safety regulations at all times
