About @sohoplace
Nica Burns has built a new flexible theatre located at the top of Charing Cross Road, the recently launched @sohoplace. This new theatre is a fantastic addition to the Soho district and to London as a whole.
@sohoplace theatre has a close operational relationship with Nimax Theatres, which Nica co-owns with Max Weitzenhoffer. Nimax Theatres owns and operates six theatres in the heart of London’s West End – the Apollo, Duchess, Garrick, Lyric, Palace and Vaudeville- with a combined capacity of 5,000 seats. In addition to hosting some of the UK’s most critically acclaimed and successful plays and musicals, Nimax presents a busy and varied programme of comedy, concerts and children’s theatre.
This role is based @sohoplace theatre. As part of the operational agreement between @sohoplace theatre and Nimax Theatres, the contractual employer will be Nimax Theatres.
About this role
To assist the Head of Stage and Deputy Head of Stage in providing stage services for all performances, events, concerts and other activities within the theatre. To carry out maintenance tasks when required.
Key duties and responsibilities
OPERATION
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage in relation to the stage for the safe and efficient get-in, fit-up and get-out of all productions, concerts and events within the theatre.
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage in ensure the smooth and safe operation or all stage equipment located within the theatre.
To ensure that daily maintenance checks are carried out.
To attend regular departmental meetings as required.
To work as part of the stage crew during shows and, if required, to act as automation operator.
HEALTH & SAFETY/MAINTENANCE
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage to carry out equipment checks as required.
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage in the completion of Risk Assessments as required.
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage to carry out the required daily/weekly/monthly checks as carried out in line with Company Procedure and recorded in the relevant log book.
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage in ensuring the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all stage equipment within the Theatre.
Assisting the Head of Stage / Deputy Head of Stage in ensuring that the stage storage areas within the theatre are kept in good order and repair.
When required, to act as the theatre representative for Contractors on site with regard to the stage equipment or theatre building.
To carry out routine maintenance tasks within the theatre as required.
OTHER
To attend training courses as required in order to further self-development.
To adhere to all Health & Safety procedures to minimise the risk of injury and accidents.
To complete any other delegated task that assists the company to achieve its business objectives.

Person specification
Essential
Experience as a Senior Stage Technician in a theatre or other live performance venue
Relevant health and safety qualification, along with experience of practical safety management in a live performance or events environment
Knowledge and experience of counterweight flying systems
Experience and understanding of current best practice relating to rigging, working at height and the application of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (‘CDM’) to the entertainment industry
IT competence; experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Good communication skills
Time management skills and experience of working under pressure and to deadlines
A natural problem-solver, with a passion for devising creative solutions
Desirable
Rigging qualification (National Rigging Certificate or equivalent)
Knowledge and experience of hemp flying systems and automated systems
CAD software competency
PASMA qualification
IPAF licence
First Aid at Work qualification
