Senior Staff Nurse - Chemotherapy Day Unit

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will join our growing dynamic nurse led team to deliver SACT for patients with oncological, haematological and non-malignant disease. You should have experience in haeamatology and or oncology and have experience in delivering SACT. This is an exciting opportunity for staff with SACT experience who wish to develop their clinical skills. We have a wide range of social events which extend to our families and include trips to attraction and show.King College NHS foundation has two Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) sites working closely together, Denmark Hill (DH) and PRUH Chartwell CDU and this post is based at DH. The post holder will play a key role in developing nursing expertise in delivering of Systematic Anticancer Therapy (SACT) to improve experience of local population for both malignant and non-malignant conditions. King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is Centre of excellence for Haematological malignancy and Liver Centre, we have ongoing clinical trials at both local, national and international. We work collaboratively across the South East as part of South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA). We are also part of King's Health Partners and have close links with Guy's Cancer Academy and King's College London.Main duties of the job
Provide expert staff who will deliver SACT within the trust Deliver innovative nurse-led SACT service, work closely with nurse practitioner to run clinics for patients receiving home delivery or self-administration of SACT Support patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical, emotional, psychological and social assessment Deliver and assist in the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines Be advocate for patients undergoing cancer treatment

To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both the patients receiving chemotherapy and their relatives within the King's College Hospital Confidently manage case load and be responsible for safe chemotherapy delivery in accordance with national and the trust guidance on the delivery of Systematic Anticancer Therapy (SACT), cytotoxic therapy for non-cancer indications across the trust To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the Unit Manager/ Nurse in Charge/ Head of Department To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the unit complement. To act as a clinical resource within the unit and across the Care Group as necessary. To act as a positive role model to junior staff members. Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognizes their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner and to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

1st level Registered General Nurse (BSC/MSc). Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards this Proven experience at Band 5 in Oncology / Haematology Management of central venous access devices Completion of a recognised SACT course and or Completed UKONS SACT Passport

Previous experience in SACT administration. Cannulation and Venepuncture
