Senior Sediment Dynamics Engineer

45,000 - 55,000

London

This role will see the candidate become an integral part of a tight-knit team consisting of Marine Geophysicists, Engineering Geologists, Geotechnical Engineers, and Geomorphologists, dedicated to assisting our clients in the offshore renewables and subsea cables industries.

As the Technical Lead for sediment dynamics within our Marine Geoscience service line, you'll spearhead both seabed mobility and scour assessment scopes of work.

The Candidate

  • A robust academic foundation with a pertinent degree (preferably MSc or equivalent) in geoscience or civil engineering.
  • Prior experience in a relevant capacity within the offshore renewables sector, interconnector or telecommunications cables industries, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Exceptional interpersonal and technical competencies, with the capability to work autonomously or collaboratively on sediment dynamics projects.
  • Proficiency in conducting statistical assessments of sediment mobility based on bathymetric data. Experience in performing scour and bed shear stress analyses.
  • Competence in utilizing hydrodynamic and sediment dynamics modelling software such as Mike21, Delft3D, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong proficiency in report writing, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate work independently.

The Role

  • Offering specialised technical expertise for bid submissions related to seabed mobility and scour assessment scopes of work.
  • Promoting sediment dynamics expertise within the Marine Geoscience team, ensuring thorough comprehension and integration of this critical element in our projects.
  • Executing seabed mobility and scour assessments for offshore wind farm and subsea cable projects, contributing to their smooth implementation.
  • Supervising model calibration throughout project cycles to maintain their precision and dependability.
  • Integrating and analysing a variety of datasets, such as metocean, hydrodynamic, hydrographic, and geotechnical data, to guide our assessments and strategies.
  • Leveraging numerical sediment dynamics modelling to predict seabed changes over time, particularly pertinent for offshore wind farms and cable routes.
  • Collaborating closely with marine geophysicists, geoscientists, engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, and engineering geomorphologists on offshore renewables and subsea cable projects, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation for project excellence.
