This entrepreneurial spirit and approach runs through our company and those who thrive here are able to cope with anything that is thrown at them, enjoy ambiguity and thrive on making things happen even when there is not a detailed brief. We are seeking a motivated, talented and creative Senior Scientist with expertise in immune-oncology, specifically T cell culture and expansion, DC culture, multi-colour Flow Cytometry, and functional immune cell assays. As part of our Immunology Research team in the R&D and Process Development department, you’ll be at the forefront of developing the next generation of T cell manufacturing processes. The work will be carried out at Achilles Therapeutics in our laboratories at Hammersmith, London. Responsibilities Contribute to the administration of multiple lines of research, including experimental design, data record and analysis, and progress reports
Contribute to the development of new tools and technologies that will drive improvements of novel cancer therapies
Perform T cell functional assays and other immunoassays to characterise neoantigen reactive T cells
Participate in Immunology Research team activities and work in close collaboration with other departments in the company
Participate in lab rotas and general lab maintenance duties
Follow established SOPs and generate suitable SOPs
Work flexibly to ensure fresh sample processing
Generate rigorous data sets and present reports within the required deadlines
Continuously drive for improvement, following the field updates/publications
Effectively communicate scientific results to a technical and non-technical audience
Essential:
PhD or equivalent in Immunology/Cell Biology or related field and +5 years of post-doctoral experience
Experience in handling and processing human samples and carrying out functional immunoassays
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail
Significant hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, including primary human cell culture of immune cells (e.g. T cells and dendritic cells)
Experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry and data analysis
Good knowledge of T cell and DC biology, and antigen presentation
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, attention to detail and critical thinking
Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team, as well as independently
Self-motivated with strong initiative and drive
Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends, as required determined by sample processing (Time off in Lieu system in place)
Desirable:
Industry/Biotech experience
Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., vector design, TCR cloning, lentivirus production)
Practical experience on genetic manipulation of cells (e.g., CRISPR)
