The role
Undertake a range of activities in the Enterprise Risk Management ("ERM") Team to support the effective management of risk and control.
The role will partner with the business to promote a strong and efficient internal control environment with reference to the appropriate regulatory and Home Office requirements. Further to this, the role will include supporting the clients sustainability initiatives, with the goal being to embed sustainability in the business.
Key accountabilities
Contribute to the development of the risk management function through:
Conduct an ERM partner role for a number of business areas within the business (including underwriting, claims, operations and finance) to support the 1st line in the effective management of risks we face.
Implement processes for risk identification, evaluation, analysis, steering, monitoring and reporting. Includes supporting 1st line in maintaining the Risk Register and the reporting of risks, controls and risk events.
Lead risk and control assessment workshops.
Establish strong relationships with Head Office (based in Hannover), including providing reporting and notifications as required, and key stakeholders across the business.
Support deployment of ESG initiatives, including the recording and monitoring of ESG in the risk register.
Support the development, reporting and monitoring of the Emerging Risks
Work in partnership with Compliance to ensure local and Group requirements are adhered to and monitored.
Coordinating and delivery of risk training sessions for the business.
Support the Head of Enterprise Risk Management in carrying out activities such as:
Preparing ERM presentations and reporting for committees and other stakeholders.
Embedding Risk Management Framework including supporting policies and procedures.
Provide risk oversight on new projects/initiatives/products and business plan (including stress testing).
Running of the ORSA process and other ad hoc regulatory reporting.
Support the development and inclusion of the Ireland business within our existing risk framework, ensuring that they are included in reporting and are managed proportionally.
Promote the risk culture within the Branch - be an advocate for a robust and transparent risk culture and lead by example.
Skills & experience
Relevant risk management experience including the assessment of risks, control effectiveness and reporting. Include familiarity with using risk management software.
Experience in the insurance industry (preferably general insurance) - familiar with key functions and processes of an insurance company.
Graduate degree or professional certification in relevant field preferred.
Experience of working with and building good relationships with people across the business at a variety of different levels and across the Group.
A self-starter who is able to simplify concepts and challenges by thinking analytically about the component parts.
Analytical skills and with ability to understand and work with large volumes of data (excel spreadsheets/databases etc).
