The Role:
The main purpose of the Senior Resuscitation Practitioner is to remain clinically acute, to provide emergency care in line with phase one accreditation criteria. This role involves ensuring clinical and telemetry safety coverage, imparting emergency based clinical skills training to align with ALS/ILS (RCUK) emergency safety standards and facilitating the fulfilment of phase one accreditation criteria. In addition, the Senior Resuscitation Practitioner will play a vital role in mentoring Associate Resuscitation Practitioners and delivering evidence-based clinical skills training, particularly focusing on aseptic non-touch technique in peripheral intravenous cannulation. In this role there are times where you will be required to work nights.
The Senior Resuscitation Practitioner is also an active member of the Acute Clinical Management Department and responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Lead Clinical Skills Resuscitation Practitioner. Oversight and participation in ACM department system checks is expected.
Main duties and responsibilities
Remain clinically acute, by participating in external acute clinical shifts.
Take a leadership role in clinical emergencies within the unit.
Utilise ALS instructor status, to develop resuscitation skills within the team.
Ensure ALS/ILS staff are compliant with RCUK/Richmond requirements, facilitating the units adherence to phase one requirements though monthly ALS/ILS assessments.
Oversee and document emergency system checks, coordinating with the Associate Resuscitation Practitioner to ensure accuracy.
Deliver robust clinical skills training in aseptic non-touch technique in peripheral intravenous cannulation.
Act as a member of the RCUK ILS course faculty at Richmond during course days.
Additional responsibilities
Provide clinical oversight and emergency management guidance for Research Physicians, Associate Resuscitation Practitioners, and Clinical Staff.
Deliver Supervised Learning Evaluations to Research Physicians, Resuscitation Practitioners, and clinical staff.
Deliver Mini Clinical Examination Exercises to Research Physicians, Resuscitation Practitioners, and Clinical Staff.
Provide mentorship to the Associate Resuscitation Practitioner.
Qualifications and Experience:
Registered healthcare professional with BSc or above in Life Sciences
RCUK ALS provider & Instructor
RCUK ILS course provider
