Senior Registered Mental Health NurseNHS AfC: Band 6Job overviewAre you an RMN (Registered Mental Health Nurse) looking to widen your experience working within a prison? Then look no further than our integrated mental health and substance misuse team at HMP Long Lartin.Our team is made up of different disciplines, skills and expertise, which benefits those needing our care. As an RMN in a prison environment, you will help provide specialist mental health interventions to help support those experiencing difficulties. Being an RMN within a prison is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding career opportunities. The variety of the role will keep things fresh and stimulating whilst being part of a supportive team with effective management who provide supervision and guidance. We are looking for an RMN who is able to provide high quality mental health care. HMP Long Lartin is a Category A adult male establishment that houses about 600 men aged 21 years and above. It accommodates men serving long sentences and forms part of the long term and high security estate. HMP Long Lartin is located near Evesham, Worcestershire.Come and join our team where you will be supported to develop your existing skills and benefit the lives of others!Main duties of the jobWorking effectively within the team you will provide evidence based interventions. You will manage a caseload of patients and will be required to undertake assessments and reviews. Using a Care Programme Approach, you will be a care coordinator , communicating effectively with those involved in the care of our patients in custody and on release. The role will require you to be a reflective practitioner, eager to work collaboratively with patients, carers and team members to contribute to the delivery of an effective, dynamic, specialist mental health service.You will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway. Here is a summary:Provide a high quality service to people who use our service. Provide care within the CPA Framework. Assess people's needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care. Facilitate therapeutic group work programmes taking the lead where appropriate. To deliver evidenced based interventions. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.You will identify those people in prisoner requiring hospital treatment and facilitate the timely transfer via The Mental Health Act.You will be a role model of excellence in leading and developing junior members of the team.Person specificationQualificationsRegistered Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council RegisterEvidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.Teaching Certificate including annual update (ENB 603) or related mentoring / coaching qualificationExperienceConsiderable experience of working in the mental health field.Experience of providing specialist interventions for those with mental health problems, counselling techniques, CBT, motivational interviewing.Providing supervision and line management of staff.Employer certification / accreditation badgesYou must have appropriate UK professional registration.This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
