Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Front end Developer (React) to join our team. This is a full-time role based out of our Manchester office with flexibility for hybrid remote work. As a Senior developer you will assist in the specification and development of System Loco's cloud applications. The role will require collaboration and technical skills to both create new and migrate legacy systems to modern React-based applications.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping the front-end landscape of our innovative product offerings.
Key Skills
Application Developer
Take a hands-on approach to help specify and develop System Loco’s suite of applications, focusing on creating a seamless user experience.
Enhance existing systems with new features and UX improvements.
Work on React systems using Material UI 3
Focusing new work on a truly componentised modular approach, with an aim to being able to build / compose future Applications from previous components.
Collaborative Specification
Work closely with product, UX/UI designers, and fellow developers to define clear specifications for new features and systems.
Collaborate with the team to break specifications down into actionable tickets in Jira.
Working with the Backend developers to define APIs to deliver the best experience.
Quality
Work with the team in verifying work, maintaining code quality in enterprise, mission critical systems.
Help to maintain high standards of quality and consistency across the code base, taking the scouts approach: “always leaving the code better than how you found it”.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven skills in JavaScript, Typescript, and patterns of modular and component design.
Extensive experience building rich and responsive front-end experiences that can be demonstrated including:
- CSS Pre-processing (Sass)
- Cross browser development
- Experience with Google Material UI would be beneficial.
Proven experience with front end / JavaScript testing and acceptance testing frameworks such as:
- Jasmine / Jest
- Playwright, Cypress or Nightwatch.js
Ability to work collaboratively and create tickets / help to specify work.
A track record of delivering projects within iterative development cycles.
Understanding of NPM and build tools.
Experience consuming and interacting with RESTful based API’s.
Work Environment
The role is for hybrid working with 1-2 days a week to be worked from the central Manchester office.
