Senior Radiation Shielding Consultant

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Radiation Shielding Consultant to be based in Warrington with hybrid working. The Senior Radiation Shielding Consultant will be required to support the Shielding Discipline Lead in providing technical solutions for projects to include:Delivering radiation models and calculations; including for shielding, dose assessment and neutron activationAssuming shielding technical lead roles within projectsIntegrating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that shielding issues are identified across projects and that consistent approaches are adopted, and timely support provided to all relevant project stakeholdersMentoring and providing on-the-job training for junior team membersContributing to the enhancement of existing radiation protection proceduresGeneral Responsibilities and AccountabilityDelivering radiation models and calculations; including for shielding, dose assessment and neutron activationAuthoring of shielding reports and related calculation notes, and verification of others' workDeveloping and maintaining excellent working relations with customers, colleagues, and other departmentsProviding support to strategic growth campaigns and bids, marketing content and presentation materials to support the Strategy Qualifications Degree in a relevant scientific or engineering technical disciplineMinimum of five years' experience within the nuclear industry as a shielding practitionerExcellent working knowledge of radiation transport codes including some, or all, of the following: Monte Carlo codes (MCBEND, MCNP) andPoint kernel codes (RANKERN, Microshield)Why We're Different: Westlakes Recruit are a people solutions business that understands the complexities of nuclear and the importance of our clients' mission critical objectives.
