The Senior R&D Hardware Engineer for Cytiva is responsible for working within the Automation, Digital and Learning group to develop and build instrumentation, evaluate new technologies and support automation on products and platforms for the Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology and other markets. A key aspect will be acting as a team member subject matter expert, advising and leading project team members in electrical and electronics design.
This position is part of the Automation, Digital and Learning SME team located in Harbourgate, Portsmouth and will be a hybrid role. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you will do:
Developing new design concepts in alignment with program strategy and industry standards
Providing expertise to ensure products are developed to meet current industry and customer requirements
Working with prototype design, build, and carrying out testing within laboratory environments
Building instrumentation for project teams from early concept phases to prototypes
Authoring protocol and test documentation for internal audience as well as end users
Providing ongoing expertise for technical problem solving
Providing electronics and electrical engineering expertise
Providing EMC expertise for prototype testing ensuring compliance with guidelines
The role will also include laboratory management in terms of risk assessments, COSHH assessments and general laboratory operation.
You will be required to support the project team by way of writing test documents, documenting design choices and providing instructional guides.
Documentation completion as per good documentation practices
Who you are:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent ( educational certificate. Other educational backgrounds considered when combined with relevant understanding of the market and technical material.
Significant hands on experience including time completing education and or gaining certification.
Professional experience applying relevant worldwide regulations for safety and compliance in hardware and software designs for the Biotechnology industry.
Additional Desirable Skills:
Experience with EMC requirements.
Previous laboratory or workshop management including safety practices
Proficient communication skills
