Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies and procedures from a civil construction perspective.
• Maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure delivery to high standards.
• Mentoring members inside and outside of your team to help the business needs
• Reporting to the commercial manager on civil commercial quantity surveyor activities.
• Attend training as required to maintain knowledge and application of processes and procedures.
• Role relevant training will be funded by the company upon review. Commercial:
• Compile detailed bills of quantities and invitation to tenders for the civil scopes of projects.
• Compile and provide employers requirements to civil contractors.
• Request quotations from civil contractors
• The technical review of civil contractors’ tenders
• Negotiating civil subcontracts and supplier terms and conditions.
• Project positive cash flow and milestone creation from a civils perspective.
• Project civils risk register creation and management.
• Ensure that all civil subcontracts have stake holder sign-off prior to subcontract execution.
• Review of civils section of employer’s requirements.
• Commercial assistance when drafting of civil subcontracts.
• Commercial approval of civil subcontracts.
• Agreeing credit terms with the civil construction supply chain.
• Monthly financial review with the civil project management team of all civil subcontracts.
• Training and/or mentoring the civil team from a commercial perspective.
• Work with project assistants from a commercial perspective.
• Resolving disputes with civil contracts.
Tendering
• Contributing to bids to win new business from a civil construction perspective.
• Working with the civil construction manager on creating and updating civil quote templates.
• The technical review of tender projects civil scope.
• The Tendering of both the grid connection and private network civil infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kV.
• The drafting of civil technical descriptions of both the grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV up to
and including 132kV.
• Working with the design team on the construction of project civil layout drawings.
RequirementsEssential criteria:
• A minimum of 3 years’ Experience working as a Commercial Assistant / Quantity Surveyor for grid connections OR
• Can demonstrate working and interfacing with clients and key stakeholders on a project
• You will possess excellent communication skills as well as strong management skills
• Good track record of contract management
• Strong understanding of budget and cashflow management
• Strong Understanding of business finances (P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Highly organised with an ability to prioritise workload
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Ability to effectively problem solve and think outside the box
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport with ease
• Professional demeanour and presentation
• Self-motivated, driven and goal orientated
• Proactive nature and initiative-taking approach to work tasks
• Willingness to develop and learn new skills
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Programming Software)
• Excellent attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
• Team player attitude
