Senior Quantity Surveyor – UK Leading Housebuilder
Salary – Up to £80,000 (Depending on Experience) + Car Allowance, Pension, Private Medical Cover
Location: Hertfordshire
About the Company:
My client have been established as a housebuilder for over 60 years and currently have regional office bases throughout the UK. They are recognised as the highest quality major
housebuilder, having been awarded an exclusive ‘5 Star Housebuilder Award’ by the Homebuilders Federation. Projects to date range vastly in terms of specification and construction technique dependant on the location of the regional office. Major projects include multi-unit RC frame structures in Central London as well as town and village regeneration and low rise traditional build housing.
About the Role:
My client is currently looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team. The projects are based around the Surrey area. The commercial team will consist of an assistant and quantity surveyor you will be expected to be able to manage a variety of your own packages. This is a career enhancing project that will add real value to your CV and experience moving into more senior positions later on in your career.
Duties to include but not be limited to;
Sub-contract tendering and procurement to meet required deadlines
Provide a detailed prelims cost budget and share with Site Manager at the appropriate time.
Payment of subcontractors, variation orders and settlement of final accounts.
Monitoring and explaining cost movements.
Manage the adoption process of public works.
Take specifications and drawings from Construction handover and prepare suitable packages for tender.
Analyse returned tender and recommend the most commercially viable contractor.
Monitor and explain subcontractor cost movements.
Responsible for subcontractor payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts.
Undertake monthly cost reports and estimate future likely cost expenditure.
Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Director.
Forecast final accounts.
Be aware of all codes of practice that impact on surveying e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.
Monitor, reconcile and recharge any costs, which relate to shared cost items with either other businesses within the Group or external Companies.
Attend pre start, specification and any other relevant concept meeting as required.
Input and maintain any computer based databases or systems.
Candidate Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 5 years Quantity Surveying experience
COINS experience
Must have residential developer experience
Qualified to HND level or higher with a valid CSCS card
Must be able to demonstrate job loyalty
