Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in commercial Projects, particularly in new build schools projects. The ideal candidate will have a background working with tier one contractors and a proven track record of managing all aspects of quantity surveying for large-scale projects.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all quantity surveying activities for new build schools projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring they align with client requirements and company objectives.
- Procure subcontractor packages and negotiate contracts to achieve the best value for the company.
- Monitor project costs, identify variations, and manage change control processes effectively.
- Provide commercial advice and support to the project team, including identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely valuations and financial reports to clients and stakeholders.
- Manage subcontractor payments, including assessing and certifying interim and final accounts.
- Collaborate with the project team to resolve commercial and contractual issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, and relevant industry standards.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on new build schools projects.
- Proven track record of working with tier one contractors on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
