Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Salary £65,000 Negotiable
The company is based in the heart of Chelmsford City Centre. The business is expanding across Essex, London, Kent and Cambridge and are now in need of a Quantity Surveyor to work alongside the Director. They are looking to interview suitable candidates as soon as possible to join the team as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor. Experience within a construction environment would be advantageous with at least 8 years QS experience.
Key tasks and responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor role include:
Working as part of a close team of project managers reporting into the Director whilst providing a cost consulting role to the client
Ensure the client achieves their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice
Attend and/or chair meetings with client and site
Prepare financial reports
Monitor the communication of a project status
Preparing full tender documentation for multiple projects
Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions
Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents
Prepare management reports
Monitor performance milestones and deliverables
Administer cost/variation procedures
Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes
Provide day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation through to final account settlements
Provide mentorship and advice to junior members of staff within the office
Desired qualifications and experience:
A relevant degree or masters qualification in quantity surveyor or similar equivalent subject
Prior experience of working in a consultancy side quantity surveying/cost consulting role carrying out pre and post contract duties
Experience of using CostX software would be highly advantageous, but is not essential for the ideal candidate
Experience of working on projects in the build environment is desired
i.e. residential, education, healthcare etc.
Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC
Demonstrable experience of carrying out tendering and procurement processes
Familiar with working on multiple projects concurrently
