The Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance is central to driving the change necessary to implement the recommendations within the NHS Long Term Plan and Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership Strategy. Key areas for improvement include:

Supporting people living with and beyond cancer
New approaches to the commissioning and provision of cancer services
Main Duties of the Job
The purpose of the role is to provide senior transformation and project management skills within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance. The post holder will be responsible for the development, management, and implementation of key pathway projects to support delivery of the Cancer Alliance objectives and priorities identified within NHS England's Planning Guidance. They will work across the health economy at pan-organisational level.
The Senior Project Manager is a senior leadership role which will oversee pathway transformation projects across organizations in all sectors within Lancashire and South Cumbria. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of project managers within the Cancer Alliance team, delivering transformation projects funded by the Cancer Transformation Fund.
The role will require extensive project management skills and close working with clinical and non-clinical teams across primary, secondary, and tertiary care to deliver transformation projects.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Communication
Ensure that the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Strategy is communicated effectively internally and externally. This will involve communicating sensitive and contentious messages requiring highly developed negotiating and communication skills.
Deliver formal presentations to internal and external stakeholders where groups may be large and diverse and where information may be highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious.
Produce regular and ad hoc reports for internal and external audiences.
Provide managerial leadership to Cancer Alliance colleagues on issues relevant to the successful delivery of their own work streams.
Represent the Cancer Alliance at external stakeholder meetings, including deputizing for the Senior Programme Manager.
Analytical and Judgement Skills
Project management and day to day running of one or more large scale, highly complex projects applying a standard methodology consistent across the Cancer Alliance pathways program.
Overall responsibility for delivering the project to agreed timescales and within budget.
Hold and manage any budget allocated to the project.
Facilitate and chair project meetings, ensuring optimum attendance and effective administration.
Ensure that members of the project teams and any staff throughout the organizations that are going to be impacted by the project are aware of its importance and impact.
Motivate members of the project team and other staff within the organizations to deliver agreed work packages to agreed dates and quality standards.
Monitor progress of the project against agreed project plans and makes adjustments to the plans if necessary if a milestone date has not been met.
Co-ordinate the relevant project teams to deliver agreed quality standards.
Collation and interpretation of national, regional and local service data to inform change strategies and provide benchmarking data and implement appropriate actions and policies. This will require ability to translate strategic information into operational deliverables.
Development of standard project documentation using Prince 2/other suitable methodology.
Planning and Organizational Skills
Lead, plan and organize complex projects to ensure that deadlines are met with the agreed deliverables and within agreed budgets.
Manage and monitor a number of competing deadlines and ensuring adherence to the overall project plan, instigating corrective action where possible.
Develop detailed project plans for designated work streams to ensure delivery of the project to agreed budget, program, scope and quality standards.
Plan and implement new ways of working which may require clinical and non-clinical staff working collaboratively in the delivery of this.
Physical Skills
The job is partly desk based requiring regular use of VDU/PC and telephone and will involve frequent visit to other trusts, sites, attendance at meetings etc. This will include travel outside of base location and work at NHS sites within Lancashire and South Cumbria.
