Senior Product Development Scientist



Permanent role



Salary: up to �60,000 + benefits



Locations: Grimsby





This role is perfect for an established and well-seasoned Product Development Scientist who will be able to hit the ground running. This will be an exciting and varied role where you can really get stuck in and make a difference.





You will be involved in all aspects of product development, including planning and undertaking lab & pilot plant work, producing prototypes, and solving technical problems relating to the coatings and plastics segment.





This is a site-based role with occasional travel in the UK & abroad depending on project requirements.





As the Senior Product Development Scientist, you will also be responsible for:




  • Mentoring and supporting junior scientists.

  • Demonstrate and adhering to a safe working environment.

  • Maintain lab and pilot plant equipment in line with site safety rules.

  • Researching IP space during concept development stage of projects.

  • Liaise with the Manager for next steps for progressing projects, as well as plan/perform lab and pilot plant work independently.

  • Perform in process testing on prototypes.

  • Perform COSHH and risk assessments.





To be considered for the role of Senior Product Development Scientist you will have:




  • Degree in Chemistry or related subject.

  • Experience of Product Development in an industrial manufacturing environment involving inorganic chemistry, especially for silica or alumina.

  • Preferred experience in the chemistry and physics of particles in the coatings industry.

  • Commercial awareness of the chemical manufacturing industry.

  • Good knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environment as well as Chemical Hygiene Plan protocol.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.
