Your Opportunity?
As a vital member of our team, you'll lead various procurement projects, focusing particularly on property and major works projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring our vision of being a trusted partner, delivering value for money consistently.

About the team?
At GWR, our procurement function collaborates closely with the business, offering support across diverse projects ranging from construction to catering, facilities management, and beyond. To enable us to continue to support the Business Development Team to work collaboratively across the rail industry and deliver key major station, car park and accommodation upgrades we are seeking a Senior Procurement Manager to provide support to help deliver a number of high-profile tenders, including frameworks (and Dynamic Purchasing Systems) and to support the wider Procurement team in setting the highest standards for both us, our business and our supply chain partners.
About the role?
In this role, you'll provide excellent commercial support to GWR stakeholders, managing risk, securing value for money, and fostering innovation. You will have a successful track record in developing and executing effective sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives under time constraints.
We seek a candidate who thrives on engaging with stakeholders, building trust-based relationships with suppliers, and excels in communication. Your adaptability, integrity, and negotiation skills will be crucial in navigating complex procurement landscapes.
This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in an exciting area of the organisation - through a combination of strategy development and hands on delivery. To do this, we are seeking someone with strong category and Utility/Public Contract Regulation experience and a willingness to take the lead and get things done.
As a minimum you will need:
Senior procurement/category management experience with a track record of leading complex tenders.
Proficiency in implementing competitive tenders compliant with European/UK procurement legislation.
Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing strategic procurement strategies.
Proven experience in managing supply chain relationships and supplier performance.
Desire for collaborative work and proficiency in construction industry contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC).
Degree level education or equivalent, or MCIPS qualification.
You willhave:
Procurement experience in Construction, Minor or Major Works Projects in Public Sector environment is preferred, but not essential.
Location?
Milford House, Swindon. Some travel may be required, flexibleworking optionsmay be offered.. A GWR Travel Pass will be provided.
Working hours?
37 hours per week
