JOB DESCRIPTIONWood is currently recruiting for Senior and Principal Technical Environmental Engineers to join our Technical HSE Team based in Reading.You will be a member of the Design HSE Group, within the Engineering Department, and will report to the Group Manager Design HSE. The department sits within the New Energies business of Wood.RESPONSIBILITIESWorking within a project team, you will be undertaking the following activities:Writing Environmental Management Plans and Design BasesOverseeing environmental aspects of design and associated documentationInterpreting and applying environmental-related legislation and standardsConducting environmental impact assessments either directly or through use of third-party consultantsParticipating in project reviewsConducting project auditsSuitable candidates may also take the role of Lead Engineer - leading a team of Environmental Engineers within a project. In this role you will be undertaking the following activities:Planning activities and deliverables of your team against project scheduleMeeting project deadlines, milestones and budgets for deliverablesMonitoring and directing the work activities of your teamLiasing with project management and clientCommunicating with and co-ordinating work with other engineering discipline teamsOur clients are diverse and range from energy transition start-ups to multinationals. Further benefits include a generous contributory pension scheme, private medical cover, life insurance; all of these and more that can be flexed to suit your own lifestyleCommitment to continued professional development - development plans that are tailored to your individual needs and interests Global connections - join experts around the world who are at the leading edge of our industry, shaping the standards of our profession QUALIFICATIONSExpected:Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical or Process EngineeringMembership of a recognised professional institutionTechnical competence in core Environmental Engineering subject areas, notably; Emissions Quantification, Dispersion Modelling, Best Available Technology (BAT) Analysis, Risk Assessments, Working knowledge of applicable international standardsExperience in the application of Environmental Engineering within a design setting likely to include the following: Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Refining, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), Carbon Capture/ Hydrogen ProductionAnalytical and conceptual thinking skills, ability to manage own work and the work of others, plus a strong customer focus and team-working skillsAbility to work to agreed delivery dates while collaborating with others in multifunctional teams.Good written and verbal communication skillsDesirable:Relevant postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or SustainabilityExperience of working in the process industry and energy, oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectorsLeadership skills and experience Commercial awarenessIf you consider that your experience and qualifications do not match our requirements, perhaps because you come from outside the engineering contracting industry, we would still like to hear from you.
