Central Manchester

£30-42k DOE + excellent benefits package

Based in the Northern Quarter, this Senior Planning Consultant role is with an independent planning and environmental consultancy who are in that sweet spot of being just the right size to be big enough but not too big. Overview

Your role will include reporting on a weekly basis to the Team Leader and instructing/working with others in the team or multi-disciplinary project teams, as required.  You will be responsible your own projects and leading on the submission of planning applications.  You will be expected to liaise with others in the team as well as with other Environmental Specialists in other company offices and actively participating in networking.

You will assist in providing specialist consultancy advice for planning applications. You will operate nationally, producing high quality planning advice for a number of sectors including Energy, Waste management, Residential, Tourism, Land Development and Infrastructure Development. You will also be involved in policy research and policy development sectors.

As a Senior Planning Consultant, you will need to project manage the preparation and submission of planning applications and promptly resolve planning issues post submission while providing regular updates to the client. A good understanding/knowledge of planning and regeneration and renewable energy would also be beneficial.

Primarily an office based role although home working is encouraged to ensure a good work /life balance.  Travel is required to attend client meetings and site.

The Role


  • Prepare and oversee planning graduate and planning consultants in pre-application work such as site visits and appraisals
  • Preparation and co-ordination of Planning applications
  • Preparation of EIA documents
  • Preparation of planning appeals
  • Preparation of Planning feasibility reviews;
  • Preparation and submission of representations promoting sites through the Development Plans process
  • Preparation of discharge of Planning Condition, Variation of Condition and non- material amendment submissions
  • Preparation of Fee Proposal development, writing and management

Requirements:


  • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience of working in this type of role and/or Local Planning Authority
  • A member of MRTPI
  • Driving licence
  • Ability to communicate well with clients and/or suppliers
  • Eligibility to work and reside in the UK
