West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) administers the Local Government
Pension Scheme for over 850 employers based throughout the UK and is valued at over £18bn. We also have a shared service partnership with Lincolnshire Pension Fund, the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Barnet and a number of Fire Authorities for the administration of the Firefighters Pension Schemes. We have a vacancies in our benefit calculation team, pensioner services and payroll team, and pensions administration team. You will be part of a busy team dealing with complex areas of work. As a Senior Pensions Officer, you will have proven experience in the administration of the LGPS and/or FIRE Pension Scheme, including knowledge of pension legislation and the ability to calculate benefits.
You should therefore have strong numeracy skills with attention to detail, exercise good judgment and be able to manage your own workloads with minimum supervision. You should possess effective communication skills both verbally and in writing and adopt a positive but sympathetic customer care approach to your work.
You will also have the skills needed to supervise Pensions Officers and will be able to work to a high degree of accuracy and to tight deadlines.
As a minimum you will have:
E
xperience of pension scheme and/or payroll administration; and
R ecent experience of training, supervising and assisting staff5 GCSE’s Grade C (including Maths and English) or equivalent level qualifications and the Certificate in Pensions Administration (CPA)or currently studying for the CPA qualification or another recognized professional pensions/payroll qualification (APSA, IPPM, PMI or CIPP) or equivalent level relevant professional qualification.
The post is a career grade consisting of 3 grades with progression bars between them.
