In response to the ongoing growth in their Design division, my client is seeking a Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer to join their team.
The role encompasses a range of design tasks including profiling, routing, load and strength analysis, foundation design, and conductor selection studies.
As an integral part of a diverse team, they are looking for individuals who possess not only technical proficiency but also strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels.
Additionally, the role involves project and program planning, coordination between various disciplines, and the development of design processes.

Tasks
Develop and review overhead line design solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct site surveys and analyse the structural integrity of existing and proposed OHL installations.
Prepare detailed designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for overhead line projects.
Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise.
Oversee the construction, testing, and commissioning of overhead line installations, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgetary constraints.
Conduct technical reviews and inspections to ensure the quality and safety of OHL designs.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in overhead line design and engineering.
Strong knowledge of power systems, electrical safety, and relevant industry standards (e.g., NESC, RUS).
Proficiency in using design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and AutoCAD.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders.
Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
