We are hiring for a Senior Mobile Engineer to join our audio mobile team. As a Senior Mobile Engineer you will be responsible for designing and building advanced react native applications; as well as coordinating with teams responsible for other layers of the product infrastructure. You should enjoy working with autonomy in a creative and entrepreneurial environment, and have a strong commitment to producing high quality code.The role will suit either an existing senior or a mid-level mobile engineer ready for their next challenge, but with at least some experience setting the technical approach or mentoring a high performing team. We offer flexible working and have recently shifted to a 'remote first' working policy with a minimum expectation of coming to the office two days a month, however you can come in more often if you wish to. Our remodelled Birmingham HQ is in the heart of the city and we use it for collaborating and connecting in-person.How you will contribute:Produce and implement functional mobile applications writing clean code.Work on a React Native application while going native on iOS/Android when required.Bring features from specification to production.Integrate with third party API’S and SDKs.Implement pixel-perfect, smooth UI’s across both mobile platforms.Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance.Release applications to IOS and Google Play stores.
The ideal skills for the role are:Proven experience as a Mobile Engineer with knowledge of React Native.Experience working with programming languages Swift, Objective C or Java, Kotlin (or similar).Experience with mobile application ecosystems including build pipelines, testing and app/release performance monitoring.Ability to develop and maintain continuous integration and delivery of React Native applications.Experience with automated testing suites.Familiarity with UI best practices and an understanding of the impact it has on customers interactions with products.Mentorship experience - you’ll have been seen as a go-to person in your last role.Technical project management skills–allocating and communicating requirements is second nature.Comfortable working with and influencing peers at a high technical level.The Economist Group values diversity.
