Our work is varied including a mix of Rx, biotech, healthservice companies, and animal health.We currently work in the following therapy areas: respiratory, oncology, neurology, diabetes, dermatology, cardiovascular, and medical devices.ABOUT THE ROLE:As a Senior Medical Writer, you will work across a range of accounts, reporting to the Scientific Director and working closely with the medical team, copywriters and other internal teams. With a proactive approach and well-developed project management skills, you will add value and aim to exceed the expectations of clients that you work with. You will be client-facing, ensuring good communication with all internal and external teams.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Analysis of clinical data and scientific papers to input into the development of a sound strategy, fully backed by dataWorking with the planning team to develop a scientifically relevant strategy and mapping content to match itOwnership of allocated brands – responsible for scientific input into strategy, alignment of materials with strategic goals and accuracy of all contentDelivery of high quality scientific and creative (but non-conceptual) communications (including promotional materials such as eDetail aids and congress stands, HCP & patient educational programmes, websites and digital content)Performing literature searches and data trawls for pitches and developing backgrounder documents that provide scientific insights into product differentiation and potential positioningActing as a resource to the rest of the agency for scientific enquiries about therapy areasParticipation in client meetings and workshopsProvide guidance and support to more junior medical writersOversee projects from conception to delivery, ensuring highest standards are maintained throughoutSKILLS & EXPERIENCE:An advanced degree in the life sciences with relevant medical writing experience within a medical communications, pharmaceutical marketing or related environmentHave a strong passion for medical communication and an ability to communicate complex scientific ideas in a simple, clear manner, in writing and verballyExtensive experience working on a wide range of deliverables in medical communicationExperience participating in workshops and other client-facing meetings, in an active capacityExperience providing scientific insights based on the analysis of clinical data to support strategy developmentExperience proposing the development of new materials and content, based on a deep understanding of the brands, their scientific data and strategic goalsExperience building rapport with clients and probing them on their objectives and approaches with a view to delivering content that is relevant, fully aligned and easily approvableAbility to work independently but also collaborate with accounts, conceptual copywriters and art directorsAbility to work across multiple therapeutic areas and managing own workload well under pressureStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with colleagues and clientsExcellent attention to detailExcellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Adobe AcrobatFamiliarity with ABPI guidelines, Zinc and/or Veeva PromomatsATTITUDE:A passion for scientific communicationResilience to keep going in a fast-paced environmentStrives for excellenceCan do attitudeApproachable and personableBuilds rapport and is able to quickly establish excellent working relationshipsTeam playerIf this sounds like you and you share our challenger spirit, then this could be the role for you!VCCP DE&I StatementWe believe that DE&I is about creating a strong culture of inclusion within our agency, where everyone can thrive and be their authentic self.
