We are currently supporting a growing biotechnology company in Belgium this can be fully home-based anywhere in Belgium, Netherlands & UK. Our client is looking to hire a Medical Director and a Senior Medical Director to join their business permanently. This company have grown by 75% in the past two years, have seen their share price grow by 1500% in five years and have had FDA approval for several products in the past 4 years and are moving into commercial stage. They are true innovators and support patients with rare and debilitating neurological diseases.
Role Summary
The Senior Director will be taking responsibility for designing the strategy from a medical point of view for the indication. As such, you will likely line manage and really take the indication from Phase I through to commercialisation.
As the Senior Medical Director, you will provide strategic medical direction and oversight within the Medical team, collaborating closely with cross-functional members to maximize the potential of the Asset. Your role involves offering continuous medical insight and planning throughout all development stages, evaluating emerging data for efficacy and safety, and managing a team of medical doctors to ensure high-quality support for clinical and study teams. Additionally, you will foster strong client relationships, both internally and externally.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Provide strategic medical insight and planning for the asset, including aspects of the Target Product Profile (TPP), overall development plan, choice of preferred indications, and labeling potential.
Oversee the evaluation of emerging data for efficacy and safety, comparing it to competitors' data.
Manage a team of medical doctors, coaching and setting examples for their roles, and identifying high performers for potential advancement.
Maximize client satisfaction by collaborating with leading academic medical centers and providing quality development partners.
Foster close collaboration with senior management and functional heads to anticipate their needs while maintaining medical integrity.
Collaborate cross-functionally on procedures/policies and training requirements to harmonize and gain efficiency across the organization.
Help build and maintain a "best in class" group of development medical doctors.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Medical Doctor with relevant specialty education preferred, with at least 10 years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry.
Neurologist ideally or Extensive and recent Neurology/Neuromuscular experience
Circa 5-15 years experience in Pharma/Biotech Clinical development roles (Phase I, II, III and IIIb).
Experience with global submissions (EMA, MHRA, FDA and JAPAC)
Must have lead strategy and designed medical aspects of TTP
Experience with target/indication selection
Understanding of labelling potential and implications
