What if that person was you?AWE are looking for Senior Mechanical Engineers (Warhead Containers)We have exciting new opportunities for Senior Mechanical Engineers with a background in design, manufacture and trials to work within the AWE Warhead Containers team. Successful candidates will be required to apply their mechanical engineering expertise to support and deliver projects for both future and in-service programmes. These projects vary across the product lifecycle from deriving requirements, developing conceptual designs and architectures, testing and verification activities required to introduce products into service.Role: Senior Mechanical Engineers (Warhead Containers)Location: Reading Salary: £44,990 - £67,000 (dependent of experience) Closing Date: 05th June 2024The Role?
As a senior engineer, you will support the definition of the future WH Container strategy, identifying the capabilities required for delivery. In addition there will be opportunities for strong involvement in the associated systems engineering deliverables. This role will offer great career development opportunities across technical, team and project leadership.Candidates will need to be delivery focused engineers, capable of both leading and working within teams, engaging with various stakeholders from different disciplines, internal and external to the nuclear weapons enterprise.This division of Warhead Engineering is responsible for maintaining the current container system, ensuring it is safe, secure, serviceable and meets the demands of both internal and external stakeholders, as well as supporting the development of a future container system. The team work on multiple projects from the concept phase, into service and through to disposal and are responsible for:Ownership and Design Management of the current container systemThrough life management of the current container system and its associated designCarrying out Verification and Validation activities (including both onsite and offsite trials management)Developing capabilities for future container systems and investigating new verification methodsStakeholder Engagement with other (international and domestic) government agencies and regulatorsEnsure the enterprise has the required capabilities to support the enduring container programmeTo be considered for these roles, you will have a degree or higher qualification in an engineering discipline or proven equivalent experience working in a similar environment. An appreciation of Systems Engineering methods, tools and processes will be required.What will you get from us?
