Roles and responsibilities:
Acting principally under the direction of the Head of Engineering to work flexibly within the Engineering team on assigned design projects and associated product engineering activities.
The scope of the tasks will primarily comprise of mechanical design and detailing of high integrity rotating components and assemblies, but will include other supporting systems and equipment such as couplings, instrumentation, lubrication, materials selection, documentation and test rig design as necessary.
Develop designs and/ or re-engineer existing designs for new applications.
Experience:
Strong core design skills, competence in materials selection, shaft and bearing analysis, rotor dynamics, and other drive system elements including structural components, couplings, lubrication systems, relevant instrumentation, and control systems.
2 & 3D CAD usage at expert level, Solid Edge preferred. Create component and assembly drawings. Drawing and technical documentation checking.
Technical liaison and problem-solving with Production Engineering and Supply Chain teams.
Excellent attention to detail.
Support and develop other team members.
Experience:
5 years or more in an engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery.
Understanding of product design and analysis methods.
Mechanical engineering qualification.
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
Engineering knowledge essential of coupling design, lubrication systems, test rig design, bolted joints/keys/fits, and fabrication design.
3D CAD literate, Solid Edge preferred. Able to produce and understand detailed 2D drawings.
Security clearance will be required for this role.
