There are also regional M&BD teams in the Americas, Continental Europe, Asia and South Africa with who this role will interact.Role OverviewThe role is integral in helping to drive forward our Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group strategy, with a specific focus on our Investigations, White Collar and Fraud and International Arbitration (IWCF) practice areas, to ensure we:maximise our opportunities to grow our revenues from existing and prospective clients across the practice;raise the firm’s profile and position within our key markets; andleverage and coordinate our people, knowledge and resources in an effective and efficient manner.With line management responsibility for members of the UK based LAE M&BD team; the candidate will coordinate M&BD efforts for IWCF globally across regions.This candidate will also work closely with other senior members of our global M&BD team to ensure that the IWCF M&BD programs support the firm and practice priorities.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities M&BD planning  and budgetingWorking closely with the Global Head of M&BD for LAE, the IWCF Practice Area Lead and IWCF leadership team, and regional M&BD team members to develop robust M&BD plans, in line with the group's overall business strategy and objectives.Delivering meaningful market analysis as required, to support the planning process.Managing the implementation of M&BD plans, leveraging dedicated M&BD resource across the international network, and regularly monitoring and reporting on progress.Pitching, targeting  and new business generationAdvising partners and teams on specific and sector-focused new business opportunities and providing support on the development of our proposition, approach, team, and supporting materials.Identifying opportunities with relevant partners and M&BD department resources to bring to market packaged solutions or new product offerings.Working with the central and LAE M&BD team to help build reliable and actionable content in the firm’s experience management database (Foundation)Advising on panel and opportunity-specific pitches across the LAE UK and international practice.Preparing pitch teams for presentations and carrying out post-pitch and client service reviews.Promoting pitching best practice across the group through a combination of coaching and formal training through the Sales Transformation program.Marketing campaigns and profile raisingOverseeing the delivery of global IWCF marketing programs and campaigns to raise the profile of our practice, working with the central PR team to leverage our thought leadership, sponsorships, and targeted events programs, including our approach to directories and awards.Ensuring UK and global directory submissions are completed to the highest standard.Internal communication and knowledge sharingWorking with the practice leaders to ensure that there is an efficient framework for internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities and successes, including the provision of information for wider management reporting;Ensuring there is a structured approach in place for maintaining up-to-date BD information and knowledge, such as credentials and information for pitches;Liaising with other BD managers, PSLs and the PR team to ensure communication of best practice in areas such as new business pitches, business generation, thought leadership and client care.Line Management ResponsibilitiesLine managing 2-3 UK-based team members.Ensuring there is a structured approach in place for maintaining up-to-date M&BD information and knowledge, such as credentials and pitches, and for sharing best practices across the group.Wider BD projectsManaging and contributing to wider LAE and M&BD projects as required, in conjunction with the Global Head of Business Management and M&BD and the regional LAE and M&BD team leads.Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.Person SpecificationThe CandidateEssentialSignificant experience in a professional services industry.Solid experience in business planning and management.Able to think strategically and commercially.Strong operational and project management skills.Experience of, and comfortable in, a partnership or equivalent professional services environment.A broad base of experience across the marketing mix, but with a strong background in client relationship management, pitches and targeting.Experience of managing and motivating people.DesiredSomeone with good experience of operating in the legal sector or with a legal background.It would also be beneficial if the individual had a good working knowledge of the disputes market.Qualifications and TrainingDesiredA relevant degree/ post-graduate management or marketing qualification such as an MBA, CIM or equivalent would be advantageous.General AttributesExcellent interpersonal and internal and external client-facing skills.Very strong influencing and persuasion
