Position Summary
Role Summary
Here at Parker Meggitt, we're looking for a capable Manufacturing Engineer to support our site in Fareham. In this role you'll be responsible for the manufacturing process and development of manufacturing processes on the shop floor in addition to improving yield, and identifying and managing cost-out projects.
you will comply with Health, Safety and Environmental policies ensuring this is at the forefront of all engineered solutions, supervise Manufacturing Engineering Teams and subcontract staff where required, as well as justifying and managing the installation of new plant and equipment.
Core Responsibilities
Introducing new systems, processes, methods and facilities to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products
Engineering and introducing new products to manufacture and investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training
Conceptually designing fixtures and tooling where required for both assembly and detail manufacture
Generating documentation such as routings and process instructions using standard work methods whilst adhering to all relevant quality and design specifications
Identifying applications/projects for SPC and manage their implementation including ongoing data analysis
Improving manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work-flow, space requirements and equipment layout
Leading continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities.
Leading industrialisation projects to customer requirements performing activities such as DFMEA, PFMEA and tools such as VSM, including supporting internal and customer PPAP requirements
Keeping abreast of current manufacturing technologies and future technology developments
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Essential
HNC in a Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering discipline
Understanding of Health and Safety practices
Understanding of a wide spectrum of manufacturing processes
Understanding of engineering, scientific and other technical information
Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach
Ability to work as part of a team within a dynamic environment
Ability to plan and prioritise activities
Analytical skills
Desirable
Bachelor's degree in a Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering discipline
Working background within the aerospace industry
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
Strong risk management mindset, proactive in identifying and dealing with potential business risks
Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite
Understanding of MRP/ERP systems
