This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of experts within a top 10 FS business. With a distinctive range of expertise and extensive links to the legal, financial, regulatory, and governmental bodies such as the EU commission.  The business provides forensic services across numerous disciplines for both corporate and private clients. Their partners are acknowledged leaders in their own fields and combine this expertise with an understanding of the legal process and experience of acting as Expert Witnesses.



The wider team offers a wide range of services across contentious matters including dispute resolution, fraud and bribery investigations, personal injury, and insurance claims, both in the UK and internationally.  This team would provide Monitoring Trustee services where they act as Monitoring Trustee on behalf of competition regulators to monitor parties’ compliance with structural or behavioural remedies.



To be successful in this role, candidates can come from a variety of professional backgrounds including Corp Law, Accountancy, Economics and Regulation.  



Key responsibilities:




  •  Carrying out and managing more junior staff on the following:




  • Analysis of information received on the parties’ compliance with merger/antitrust remedies.

  • Attending meetings together with Head of the team and leading meetings when required

  • Report writing.

  • Liaising with the parties and competition authorities and chasing information




  •  Managing client engagements including client set up and control of lock up.




  • Networking with competition lawyers and antitrust regulators

  • Relationship management

  • Attending marketing events

  • Analytical thinking: at the core of all assignments – must be able to identify key issues in a case and anticipate counterarguments.

  • Detail oriented: ability to look at a large quantity of financial and non-financial information and identify inconsistencies.

  • Written communication: Written work must be an outstanding level of accuracy.

  • Must be of the highest standards – not only does the content need to be technically correct but it must be presented clearly.

  • Commercial awareness: all Monitoring Trustee and forensic assignments require commercial awareness as they are all about commercial issues.

  • Teamwork: The FS team is diverse with different technical skills – teamwork is essential to this role

  • Project management: managing the expectations of the competition regulators and clients.



Candidate Profile



As this role incorporates a range of skills from a variety of professions, including Law, Economics, Accountancy.  Key experience & skills could include:







  • ACA qualified or equivalent preferred or Competition Law or Competition Economics background

  • Experience of managing teams and or projects

  • Experience in Regulation, Merger and/or antitrust remedies (designing, implementing, or monitoring)

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Report writing and presentation skills.

  • Assignment and client management skills
