My client seeks an experienced Practice Manager to join their thriving accountancy practice. The Practice Manager will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing the administrative and human resources functions, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational and leadership skills, with a background in managing the operations of an accountancy firm.
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accountancy practice. Training and mentoring of staff
- Reviewing of work (alongside the responsible Director(s))
- Be responsible for the timely delivery of year end accounts, tax returns and VAT returns.
- Ensure efficient workflow and effective utilisation of resources.
Client Services
- Act as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, and ensuring exceptional client service.
- Monitor client satisfaction and implement improvements as needed
Staff Management
- Supervise and lead a team of accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff.
- Conduct regular performance reviews (alongside the responsible Director(s)), provide feedback, and facilitate professional development.
Workflow and Task Management
- Allocate work assignments and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ensure the timely completion of projects and deliverables.
Financial Management
- Collaborate with the firm's partners/ Directors to develop and manage the practice's budget.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure the practice adheres to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to uphold service excellence.
Technology and Systems:
- Oversee the implementation and utilization of accounting software and other technology tools.
- Stay informed about advancements in technology relevant to the accountancy field.
Marketing and Business Development
- Collaborate with partners to develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Identify opportunities for business growth and client acquisition.
Training and Professional Development
- Facilitate training sessions for staff to enhance technical and soft skills.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Risk Management
- Identify and assess potential risks to the practice and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor compliance with risk management policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Relevant accountancy qualifications i.e. ACCA, ACA etc.
- Proven experience in a managerial role within an accountancy practice.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and industry regulations.
- Familiarity with accounting software and technology tools.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Accountancy practice Experience: 7 years (required)
