Job title: Senior Management Accountant Location: Edinburgh Reporting to: Lloyd Dunlop About us: Pulsant is the UK’s leading edge infrastructure provider. Job Purpose and Opportunity: The Senior Management Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts for the Pulsant group, including all holding and dormant entities.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare management accounts within the reporting timescale including accruals, prepayments, deferred income, CAPEX including capitalisation of time and all other adjustments required. Review management accounts to ensure any unusual balances are explained and prepare full variance analysis in association with the Head of FP&A including a full forecast of performance against budget, re-forecast and prior year periods .
Maintenance of the general ledger and reconciliation process, along with substantiation of all major balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Ownership of the bank reconciliation process.
Preparation and submission of group VAT returns.
Support year-end audit process, information gathering and dealing with queries. Collate, input and maintain all information for payroll submissions to our payroll partner and pension administrator, including working closely with our People Team.
Prepare all year end P11D & PSA data for submission returns.
Ensure the company ERP reconciles monthly with the board pack, including posting any late adjustments to so it is ready to update the forecast model. Ownership of the management accounts file/model including building in capacity for further additions to the Group. Mentoring, coaching, management support and development, including assisting with appraisals, evaluations and reporting of individual performance targets for the management accounting team.
Review of the current month end processes to improve efficiency. Become a Champion for NetSuite within the finance team, including the ability to manage complex reporting and analytics queries. Assistance with any ad-hoc tasks as required by the Group Financial Controller.
Additional Responsibilities:
Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director. All roles will be required to handle confidential information and/or sensitive data in a professional manner and in line with existing Company processes and policies. Special Conditions:
This role may require occasional customer and Pulsant site visits. This role may require Monday to Sunday out of hours working where necessary. Provide appropriate work cover of the team during holiday / sickness.
Education & Qualifications sought: Essential
Minimum Degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline / proven financial working experience. Minimum GCSE/O level/Nat 5 or equivalent, in English and Maths.
Desirable
Fully qualified member of a recognised accountancy body.
Experience sought: Essential
Extensive experience within the Accounts department.
Experience in the preparation of consolidated management accounts.
Experience with Microsoft packages, in particular Excel at advanced level (i.e. ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables). Experience in using computerised accounting systems and online banking systems. Previous experience working as a Team Leader and managing a team.

Good understanding of the concept of accruals, prepayments and deferred income. Good understanding of differentiating between fixed assets, maintenance and support, and general widgets. Knowledge of using different computer accounting packages.
Desirable
Recent experience of using NetSuite. Holistic approach to finance.
