Job Title: Senior Legal Officer/Solicitor

Location: Rugby Borough Council

Work Mode: Hybrid (1 day per week in the office)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Pay Rate: Negotiable

Duration: Temporary, 1-month with potential extension

Responsibilities:

• Mainly focused on housing-related tasks, particularly possession claims and addressing antisocial behaviour.
• Responsible for handling possession claims online and addressing queries related to housing claims.
• Provide legal support on housing, civil litigation, and employment matters.
• Contribute to efficient legal services for councillors and officers.
• Support the Council's Transformation Programme with advocacy and drafting.
• Assist in other legal areas as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, or commitment to qualification.
• Experience in housing, civil litigation and housing matters.
• Strong drafting skills and ability to provide concise advice.
• Experience in local government or public sector settings preferred.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in IT and office software.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and attend meetings.
