Senior Legal Counsel
Senior Legal Counsel (UK qualified Solicitor) required for a key role within a respected technology company.
Reporting to the UK Head of Legal, you will be involved in end to end commercial and legal advice across the entire lifecycle of
contracts from bid stage, negotiation, through to in-life management.
Additionally, the department undertakes support to the UK business on all legal matters.
You will be expected to work closely with the UK legal senior management team as well as a broad range of internal stakeholders across all functions of the business to provide commercial and pragmatic advice, guidance and counsel on a broad range of legal issues that affect the UK business.
The role
The role has a particular focus on commercial technology contracts, providing legal advice on a variety of UK legal matters with an emphasis on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements for customers, partners and suppliers
Supporting key bids and providing strategic input
Establishing key working relationships throughout the organisation and with the global Legal & Compliance team
Leading on commercial IT contract negotiations with a particular emphasis on supporting FTSE250 customers and public sector clients
Manage and support on group projects to ensure that the function is fully aligned and integrated into the business
Litigation and dispute management and instructing external counsel where appropriate
Coaching and developing other members of the team and ensuring that the advice provided by the department is consistent and aligns to the organisations risk appetite and governance procedures
Requirements
A proactive lawyer who enjoys advising on a broad variety of commercial contracts
Prior experience of managing key stakeholders and communicating pragmatic legal advice across the business
Experience working on complex outsourcing agreements, preferably for both private sector and public sector customers
A thorough understanding of Public Procurement legislation
Excellent written and oral and negotiation skills
Ability to hit the ground running and enjoy working alongside senior stakeholder
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and also to be part of a team, leading teams where appropriate
Prior UK in-house experience in a fast-paced environment working to tight deadlines
Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and a willing, helpful attitude
A calm professional manner, even during times of rapid change
UK qualified solicitor with 6-10 years PQE (or equivalent) with significant in-house experience
