Senior Lawyer

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Lawyer! This will be on an initial 6-month contract with a possible view to a further extension.The purpose of the role is to provide legal advice on and manage a caseload of housing matters including rent arrears, housing possession, housing fraud, ASB, encroachments/trespass plus more.Key skills/experience required:
* It's essential that you are a qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
* Experience of public sector housing litigation, debt recovery and insolvency procedures
* Good understanding of debt recovery and insolvency procedures
* Knowledge of the Housing Act 1985 and Civil Procedure Rules
* Excellent written and communication skills
* Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
* Experience of effective case management to Lexcel standards.Further responsibilities:
* Provide expert advice to client departments on housing law and deal with housing possession casework
* Appear as an advocate in the county court in respect of non-contested possession matters and other appropriate hearings.
* Deal with breaches of covenant, leasehold service charges recovery, and other debt cases including non-payment of commercial rents.
* Deal with encroachments/trespass on City-owned/managed land.
* Work collaboratively and provide legal and technical support to other fee earners as required including working in a team on special projects
