One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Senior Human Resources Advisor. This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

In this role, the post holder will be responsible for supporting and actioning day-to-day people-related issues. Those issues will include, recruitment and retention, performance management, employee onboarding, absence management and support, trade union liaison, organisation design, grievance and disciplinary management.

Reporting directly to the Head of HR and OD, there will be an expectation, the post holder will use their initiative and experience to support the client managers in the Housing teams and other designated functional areas to ensure tenants and customers receive the best service from the Council.

Duties and Responsibilities

* The primary responsibility is to meet the Human Resource needs of Heads of Service and managers to ensure the operational delivery of the service functions, this will include work with a variety of professional and trade/craftsperson teams.

* To support effective consultation processes including formal meetings, to encourage and embed a culture of putting council tenants and customers at the heart of everything we do, and to support the delivery of service plans.

* To provide an effective advisory support service to managers in meetings and investigations covering attendance, performance, grievance and disciplinary situations.

* To make amendments and additions to the HR/Payroll system to ensure changes to contracts and other relevant events are accurately reflected in the payments made to employees.

* To provide support in delivering training and other events.

* To maintain an awareness of best HR practice and professional developments.

* To support other members of the HR team, working in other Council departments as needed.

* To support recruitment and selection processes

* To support on-boarding processes for permanent and agency employees

* To support change management processes as required.
