Senior Health and Safety Advisor - Civil Engineering

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to oversee and champion safety practices on our civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of safety excellence.

The successful candidate must:

  • Live in South Wales
  • Be seeking permanent role
  • Be willing to work on site 5 days per week
  • Possess at least 2 years experience as H&S Advisor on civil engineering projects
  • Be available to start by 11.4.24

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies and procedures in line with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to project teams, advising on safety measures, equipment, and protocols to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Deliver comprehensive safety training sessions and workshops to enhance awareness and ensure compliance among project staff.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices in health and safety to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience in a similar role within the civil engineering or construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and best practices.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for safety management.
