At Laing O'Rourke we are looking for a Senior Group Accountant
to take an active role in the supporting the delivery of the year-end financial statements and monthly management accounts reporting.
As Senior Group Accountant you will provide capacity to drive the financial to management accounts alignment and broaden the group control environment as well as supporting the long term contract accounting reviews across the business. This role requires a detailed focussed, conscientious individual who has a flexible approach and the ability to embrace change within a dynamic and challenging work environment. An ability to effectively manage a team and deliver to deadlines is essential as is the ability to work coherently as part of the wider finance team and a desire to streamline and improve the information flows.
The Senior Group Accountant will report to the Head of Reporting and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the year end accounts and monthly management accounts. The team's key deliverables include:
Preparation and review of the Group consolidated financial accounts (x3)
Preparation and review of the UK statutory accounts
Preparation of technical accounting papers to support the year end audit process
Preparation of a small number of monthly management accounts
Review of accounting position on long term contracts in line with IFRS 15
Supporting the testing of the control environment
Supporting the covenant and other external stakeholder reporting
Supporting other ad hoc report preparation and tasks as required
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Qualified accountant – ACCA or ACA
Previous experience of delivering to predetermined deadlines
Previous experience of consolidated management reporting and preparation of board reports and supporting papers at an executive level
Previous experience of large multi-currency group consolidations
Strong communication skills and experience of dealing with senior finance staff
Good commercial awareness
Analytical and flexible with meticulous attention to detail
