About the business
We are recruiting for a legal firm with a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. They are looking for a Group Accountant to join their team and play a key role in their continued success.
Working Pattern
This is a hybrid working pattern based in Brierley Hill with 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.
Main duties:
- Compile detailed financial packages for each subsidiary, encompassing profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, while adhering to strict reporting deadlines.
- Ensure complete responsibility for the precision of all financial data within your subsidiary portfolio.
- Review the work of accountants, management accountants, and transaction teams, swiftly addressing and correcting any discrepancies.
- Develop detailed variance reports with commentary, capital expenditure reports, and bad debt reviews to provide valuable business insights.
- Partner with the asset management team to thoroughly understand the performance of the portfolio.
- Support the group financial accountant in finalizing monthly management reports for review by both UK and Group Finance Directors.
- Closely oversee accounts payable and receivable ledgers to ensure they are managed efficiently and effectively.
- Accurately and promptly complete VAT returns in compliance with all tax regulations.
- Produce detailed cash flow forecasts to aid in strategic financial planning.
- Collaborate with asset managers to ensure ongoing compliance with all banking consent requirements.
- Prepare year-end financial statements for each subsidiary in accordance with FRS 102 standards.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end audit packs and effectively communicate with external auditors throughout the process.
- Compile comprehensive tax packs and maintain open communication with tax advisors.
- Review annual tax calculations and ensure accounts are ready for submission to HMRC.
- Work jointly with tax advisors to ensure prompt and effective responses to any HMRC inquiries.
- Assist in managing the treasury function, including foreign account oversight.
- Provide essential support to the Financial Planning & Analysis team as needed.
- Be ready to undertake ad hoc analysis projects, showcasing your adaptability and problem-solving abilities.

What We Are Looking For:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge specifically aligned with UK accounting standards.
- Prior experience with group accounting, consolidation, multi-currency reporting is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proficient in using accounting software and financial systems.
