Job Title:
Senior Graphic Designer
Company:
V-One Design Solutions Limited
Location:
Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, UK
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.
Duration:
Full Time, 35 hours.
About Us:
We’re a multidisciplinary graphic design agency providing creative, high-quality, graphic design solutions delivered on time, on-brief, on budget and with a smile! We’re extremely reactive and versatile – geared up for working to incredibly tight deadlines – however short! If it’s feasible, then we’ll deliver, as our clients will testify. We understand the difference between good design and good business and all of our solutions are designed to address a business need – not just look pretty!
Based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, close to Milton Keynes, we have clients all over the world from Switzerland to Singapore, New Jersey to New Delhi as well as in the UK where we apply the same level of service to all our projects whatever their size, goal, timeline or budget. Our clients operate in the business-to-business arena, and range from small, independent companies to the world’s largest sector leaders, many of whom we have retained for over 15 years.
Job overview:
We are looking for an experienced and talented senior designer with ambitions to fly! You will play a key role in leading design projects, providing creative direction and mentoring less experienced designers. You will liaise directly with clients to understand the brief, provide ongoing updates and ultimately deliver the final solution and will provide administration with all the information required to process the project through to the invoice. You will have a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in graphic design, exceptional creative skills and a passion for delivering outstanding visual solutions across most of the usual graphic design disciplines and will be comfortable working on the simplest and smallest tasks (stickers, leaflets, banner ads etc.) to the largest, more complex projects (film storyboards, infographics, large brochures, exhibition graphics etc.). You will be able to manage your own time with some deadlines cropping up within hours and others within weeks (most inside a few days). But you will also be able to delegate to other designers in the team and be able to manage and check their work, ensuring our high standards are met. You will also be able to brief freelancers and manage them on occasion. You would work from our design studio in Leighton Buzzard but may be able to work from home occasionally on a flexible need-by-need basis to be mutually agreed. Working hours would be 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday though, because we have a large client base in the USA, we would also accept later work hours (if you preferred this) for example: 11am – 7pm.
Key responsibilities:
Lead design projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality, innovative and cohesive design solutions.
Collaborate closely with clients to understand their design needs, objectives and brand identities.
Be fluent and experienced enough to work quickly.
Manage well under pressure.
Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all design deliverables.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering results within budget constraints.
Work collaboratively with other designers (incl. freelancers occasionally) to achieve project goals.
Participate in client briefings or discussions (usually over Teams), effectively communicating design concepts and rationale.
Be able to communicate confidently with clients – mainly via e-mail and Teams – and to inspire confidence in your ability to delivery.
Stay updated on industry trends, design tools, and best practices to continually improve the quality of our work.
To constantly be aware of our systems and processes and to suggest improvements and solve problems as they arise.
Contribute to the overall creative vision and direction of the company, driving innovation and excellence in design.
Be flexible enough to work late to finish a project (and turn up late when it’s quiet).
Key skills and experience:
Minimum 6 years' experience as a graphic designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in print and digital design.
Formal qualifications (e.g. Degree) are less important than an outstanding portfolio of work.
Fluent in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator (not necessarily in that order).
Experience in Adobe Premier and/or After Effects would be a bonus but not essential.
Excellent in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Experience with packaging net designs and 2D renders.
Excellent understanding of typography, colour theory, layout, and composition.
Knowledge of printing processes and production techniques is a plus.
Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate client requirements into compelling visual solutions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, collaboration skills and presentation skills, both verbal and visual.
Detail-oriented with a keen eye for design aesthetics and quality.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Self-motivated.
Have a positive ‘can do’ approach.
Able to write in impeccable English as most of our communication with clients is via email.
Able to inspire and encourage other designers.
Able to thrive under pressure.
Be able to manage the admin for design projects (to maintain track of times and costs).
Not be afraid to ask (we’re not all infallible nor are we experts in everything).
To take responsibility for each project and manage it from start to finish, bringing in others as required.
Have a great sense of humour.
Benefits / rewards:
Salary circa. £35k / year.
Private Medical Insurance (BUPA).
Employer’s Workplace Pension contribution.
33 days’ paid holiday per year (including all bank holidays) with approx. 6 of them being taken over the Christmas period (when we close the office).
Opportunities for professional development and growth.
Opportunity to work on diverse and exciting projects.
Closing date:
28th June 2024. We'll be interviewing as we go along, so we'd encourage you to submit your application at the earliest opportunity, as the role may close earlier than advertised.
