The Opportunity
We are looking to recruit an experienced Furniture CAD Technician/Designer to join our team. This unique position will see you working as part of both a technically strong and creative team on challenging projects. The position will involve developing our clients’ initial concepts through to final production and manufacture.
This role will report directly to the CAD Manager, and is an exciting opportunity to work within a very dynamic team.
Key Skills Required
· A degree level qualification in product or furniture design (or equivalent) and/ or 2-5 years’ experience in similar positions.
· Sound knowledge and experience in using Solidworks software
· Use of AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop also beneficial, not essential
· The ability to produce clear and informative production technical drawings for both our UK and overseas operations
· A broad knowledge of furniture construction is beneficial
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business including clients
· IT literate and competent in the use of various software packages (eg. Microsoft Office, SAP experience is also beneficial)
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills whilst being a proactive, confident and well-organised individual, able to work within a team
Accountabilities
Collate information from sales, site survey and other departments in direct contact with clientele. Managing this information through the design process in order to ultimately provide a high quality end output
Produce, design and develop 3D Solidworks models of bespoke furniture and draft client and production drawings from this.
Create full production drawing packs (detailing carpentry to upholstery stage)
Producing 1:1 carpentry templates (through Solidworks) for efficient, cost effective and resourceful manufacturing
Work as part of a creative/technical team on exciting, challenging and diverse projects
Liaising with internal departments during key stages of each of these projects
May be expected to visit some of London’s most prestigious homes and commercial properties to carry out site surveys for further understanding
Aid in the technical development of new and existing items within the Larkbury Group collection
