The Role
Due to business growth, we have an exciting career opportunity available for a Formulation Scientist at our site in Alnwick
Quotient Sciences’ formulation teams have vast experience across an array of drug product formats for administration via different routes to include oral,, intravenous, sub-cutaneous nasal and sub-linqual. Correspondingly, the range of product types include solubility- or permeability-enhancing dosage forms, gels, ointments and creams.
As a Formulation Scientist you will conduct formulation development work, including pre-formulation and clinical formulation optimisation, whilst providing support towards the development and validation of analytical methodologies required for phase appropriate studies. You will be responsible for transferring formulations and processes from development phases into a GMP clinical manufacturing environment. Input on drafting manufacturing protocols and reports, specifying and assessing validation criteria in conjunction with other key parameters will be a pivotal component of the role.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Develop liquid and solid formulations intended for both pre-clinical and clinical use
Provide support for the development, adaption and application of analytical methodologies required to support the formulation development process
Acquire, record and document data in a manner that complies with GxP requirements whilst adhering to internal policies and procedures
Prepare work plans and protocols for approval.
Critically assess data generated and review data from peers.
Prepare work updates for sponsor meetings and present these where applicable.
Prepare and review reports, quality documents and training documentation
Act as technical lead (in a client-facing role, if required) on specified projects
Liaise with the manufacturing team as technical advisor on developed formulations
Perform assigned roles within the team (and wider team) such as equipment responsible operator, training, equipment hardware and/or software validation and the ordering of consumable items
Work with due regard to health and safety of self and others
The Candidate
The successful candidate will possess the minimum of a degree level science qualification in pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline. Previous formulation development or relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry is required for this role.
Other Skills And Experience Required
Experience of working in a facility which operates in compliance with GMP will be advantageous
Ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst coordinating a range of tasks simultaneously
Good interpersonal and communication skills
High attention to detail
Knowledge on pediatric
product development would be desirable
