Group Finance
The Group Finance team is based in London and Johannesburg, supporting the Group in Europe, North America and Southern Africa. The department plays a vital role in producing accurate, reliable and meaningful information within a group wide business performance framework. The team supports the CFO and executive team in understanding the value drivers of the business and in decision making.
Job Description
The Group Finance team is based in London and Johannesburg, supporting the Group in Europe, North America and Southern Africa. The department plays a vital role in producing accurate, reliable and meaningful information within a group wide business performance framework. The team supports the CFO and executive team in understanding the value drivers of the business and in decision making.
The team is responsible for producing the consolidated group monthly accounts for actual, budget and forecast scenarios which are used both for De Beers Management reporting, and for submission to Anglo American. The team is also responsible for the production of consolidated statutory results for incorporation into the interim and year end press releases and statutory financial statements. The team also manages the audit committee and external audit process, as well as playing an advisory and training role for the finance community across the group.
To support the production of the statutory and management accounts, the department uses the Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management suite of products (Oracle). These include Hyperion Financial Management ("HFM") for consolidation, reporting and analysis and Financial Data Quality Management for data collection from the group. The Smartview and Merlin MS Excel add-ins are used extensively to retrieve data from the system.
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the on-time reporting of high quality financial data. The individual will take a senior role within the financial reporting team, taking responsibility for key technical sections and key businesses whilst also providing oversight and support to business units. The individual will also provide training and mentoring to the Financial Reporting Accountants and business units where appropriate. The individual will be accountable for the accurate reporting of consolidated financial data for allocated business units, and for preparing and analysing consolidated information for monthly and quarterly reporting. They will ensure that data is presented accurately and that any accounting issues are identified, understood and resolved on a timely basis through detailed planning and process management. The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will provide insightful analysis and commentary for senior management. It is therefore vital to form strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and finance teams across the business. In addition the individual will take responsibility for the implementation for the implementation of Financial Reporting lead projects and control initiatives.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level with relevant accounting qualification (e.g. qualified chartered accountant)
Extensive experience of working on complex group consolidations with international components
Experience with interim and year end reporting (co-ordinating deliverables from business units, review/preparation of financial statements/stat notes)
Experience with complex accounting and financial reporting issues (IFRS) and preparation of technical accounting papers
Exposure to complex systems
Demonstrated experience working within a team to deliver against stretch targets
Experience of using Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Data Quality Management would be advantageous.
Operational experience in the mining industry or similar would be advantageous
