Job Purpose:
Responsible for assisting in the development of Exposure Management systems and tools for natural catastrophe and liability business across all group entities and classes of business. Supporting the Exposure Management team through the development of systems that maintain a top tier EM function and drive the business forward through new technology.
Detailed Duties:
Undertake EM projects, both as part of a team and self-guided, to enhance Ascot’s understanding of natural and man-made perils which the group are exposed to.
Contribute to the enhancement of Ascot’s EM tech framework
Have or be able to acquire excellent knowledge of existing catastrophe modelling software, its capabilities and limitations, from a technical perspective
Creating/updating SSIS packages to interface between 3rd party systems and Ascot systems
Creating Web APIs to interface between 3rd party systems and Ascot systems
Creating web front-ends for business use
Update and build on existing evaluation work and interpret new developments in data structure and modelling approaches as they evolve.
Creating/updating stored procedures
Contribute to other EM projects to enhance Ascot’s overall approach to data management
Involvement in the improvement and streamlining of exposure management capabilities and processes
Creating/updating SSRS reports
Ad-hoc data extracts, reports, analysis across all Ascot systems
Support EM’s view of risk with technical skill
Work with senior members of Exposure Management on document writing and presenting of material to senior management and externally
Other expectations:
Participation in the wider activities of the exposure management team as well as the overall risk function
From time to time, taking part in relevant projects throughout the wider business
Keeping up-to-date with technological developments applicable to our field
Performing other related duties to meet the on-going needs of the organisation
Technical Skills:
Educated to at least Masters level in a relevant scientific/numerate subject.
Demonstrable competence in the following:
SQL Server/T-SQL 2016+
SSIS
SSRS
C# development experience
ASP.NET, MVC / Web API
Web development experience in JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, JSON
Good problem solver with strong communication skills
A structured and methodical approach with a strong attention to detail
Expertise in object oriented programming concepts
Any Azure experience is desirable
Experience using high-level coding languages like VBA, R, Python. C++ or C# and development experience using version control
Understanding of GIS systems and principles. Ability to script using GIS packages in R or Python desirable.
Creative and able to advocate novel ideas and solutions.
Details orientated, while being efficient and timely.
